Momma’s Day

Momma's Day Contest!

We know how much you love your momma - especially the one that makes tasty steamed signature sandwiches, famous nachos, soups and salads. So this year we’re honoring mothers everywhere with Momma G’s “Momma’s Day Contest.”

Upload a favorite picture of your mom and tell us how much you love her for your chance to win one of 20 $50 gift cards or the grand prize of a $250 gift card (that’s a lotta Momma’s Love). Creativity and style matter because we’ll be sharing your Momma’s Day entry with Momma G’s fans everywhere. We’ll determine the winners by the number of Facebook shares and Twitter tweets an entry receives. Share your entry with your Facebook friends and Twitter followers to rack up those shares and tweets.

The contest runs through 5pm on Friday, May 9th. We’ll announce the winners on – of course – Momma’s Day, Sunday, May 11th.

My strong beautiful mother

Clarissa Smith-Barber
Warner Robbins, GA

My mother started at a very young age. She became a mother at the age of 17. With people doubting her to complete high school, my mama not only graduated but she graduated top 10 of her class. She has worked herself nonstop to make sure me and my other siblings had what we needed and wanted. She has accomplishments to where she’s not just my mom but my role model. I have a best friend in her…. she’s my only best friend. When I have nobody to talk to i will always have her. I love this woman more than life itself 🙂

Robbed of Money Not of Love

Fariba Mohammadi
Columbus, GA- Uptown

Two weeks ago was my mom’s birthday. Two days before our house was robbed and they took everything – I literally mean everything. My mom is from Iran. They took her citizenship papers, her passport, priceless family heirlooms (a watch her brother who has passed on gave her, gold necklaces from my deceased grandmother). Anything that meant everything to her was in the safe they stole from our house. She was absolutely crushed and heartbroken. She blames the robbery on herself (I have no idea why) but she does and it is absolutely heart-wrenching. She is the sweetest lady and she loves her family more than anything in the world. My whole life she has loved me unconditionally and has taken care of me through think and thin. Now I want to do something nice for her. The picture above was from her birthday this two weeks ago and even though she wanted to bawl her eyes out (I’m sure) she plastered a smile on that adorable face and attempted to have a good time.I will tell you there is not a more deserving woman on this planet I hope that you guys can see that as well.

New mom

Michelle Freeman

My mom almost didn’t make it through caring me. They told my dad to start thinking whether to choose me or my mom. After an emergency C-Section I came out a healthy tiny baby girl at 5lbs 3oz. And they told my mom that I was a rock star in the NIC unit. My mom has been a devoted loving mom. I am now 18 months and happy and healthy.

My Momma

Pat LeCroy

My momma is the absolute best!! No matter how much we may bud heads, disagree, or pull for the opposite football team (WDE/RTR) she still loves and supports me every step I take! She has an amazing family that she always throws the best parties for! Every holiday and birthday is important to my mom so she makes sure that everyone gets to celebrate with friends and family at home. She is an amazing cook, biggest BAMA fan (according to her Alabama room), and sweetest person ever! She is caring, understanding, and hilarious. My mom always gets the crowd laughing. She is a great nurse and loves all of her nurse family and friends! She is such a hard worker! She worked so hard to put herself through college and nursing school. I look up to her because she is the hardest working person I know. I love our family trips together, gatherings at home, and spending time with her. I love you momma and have a Happy Mothers Day:)

I Love My Mom…..

Cheryl Quackenbush
Warner Robbins, GA

Once upon a time there was a farmer’s daughter with a pet lamb. She also had kittens and cats to play with and dressed them up in her doll clothes. She grew up on the farm, and went to school out in the country until high school and then she went to school in town where she met and married my dad. That’s my mom!! She passed on her love for cats and country life to me. I love my mom.

My mom is a seamstress and taught me how to sew too. I am a third generation seamstress because her mom was a seamstress too. As a matter of fact, she was a grand champion purple ribbon winner in the state and county fairs for the things that she sewed. I love my mom.

My mom is a night owl, and so am I. When we get together it is usually after midnight and we’re still telling each other that we need to get to bed and it’s hard telling when we will actually get to sleep. I have to make sure that I have at least an hour or two of uninterrupted free time before I call my mom on the phone because we will talk and talk and talk until one of us has to go do something. We just don’t have short phone conversations. This is the same woman who limited my phone calls to just 10 minutes when I was a kid and wanted to talk to a friend. Never mind that she didn’t want me to tie up the party line, lol. I love my mom.

There was a time in my life when I mistreated my mom and rejected her. I am not proud of that and it is a shame that I was ever so hateful. But my mom never turned her back on me. My mom still loved me. My mom waited patiently for me to return. My mom graciously forgave me when I asked for her forgiveness. God is good and has given us a good relationship now. I love my mom!!

I would like to say my mom is my best friend, but I have a daughter too and she’s as much my best friend as my mom is. We are all “only daughters” and we got to go on a trip together and decided we were the Only Daughters Club. My mom is a good grandma to my daughter and they love each other too. I love my mom!

With all my heart, I love my mom.

My mom has had cancer three times since we were kids. I have an oder sister and younger brother as well. My dad has been disabled since I was 9 and my mom worked full time even during chemo to take care of us. She even took work to the hospital to do while she was taking chemo. I think that’s pretty awesome! I don’t know very many people that could do that. She went to baseball and softball games for us with no hair, taking chemo, and wearing a mask so she wouldn’t get sick. She definitely deserves this.

Love at first sight

Sheryl Clark
Tuscaloosa, AL

This is a photo of my wonderful mother holding my son who was in the NICU for 7 weeks due to being 3 lb 4 oz when he was born. She was so afraid of all the tubes and wires and alarms hooked to his tiny body. “Nana”said it was love at first sight when tthey held him up during myemergency c-section. She was there holding my hand as I trembled and tried to stay calm. She is still a large part of his life and will be there for him from skinned knees to broken hearts just as she was with me. I love her so very much and I am striving to be as good a mother to my son as she was to me <3

My Amazing Mother & Best Friend

Sharon Welch
Fort Walton Beach, FL

Everyone should cherish their mother, you only get one! Love her and be there for her! My mother was a very amazing woman. She passed away 18 years ago when I was 17. She was my best friend and I loved her dearly. She was very dedicated to her family. She worked hard everyday and came home and would cook such a wonderful dinner for us. Although I have to say she would spoil me. When I was younger she would cook meatloaf and I wouldnt eat it, so she would make me a hamburger. lol. I miss her more than anything in this world.

Forever my best friend

Barbara Lytle
Opelika, AL

My momma is an inspiration to me. She is the perfect example of what a daughter, wife, mother, and friend should be. She is not only my Momma, she is my best friend. I always know she’ll be an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or anything I need her to be at the moment. Although I may not have always been the perfect daughter to her, I strive to be like her in so many ways. She is such a kind and giving soul. She would give you the shirt off her back if it was the last shirt she owned. My husband’s joke/impression of my momma is “Well we just bought this, but you can have it.” That shows just how generous she is. I love my momma. She will always be my best friend.

My mother has worked countless hours and given every effort she has to raise me to be a successful young man. She has given me manners, taught me how to treat women, and done everything she can to give my siblings and I a chance to succeed in life. Every ounce of her energy is devoted to teaching the next generation as she is the best and most caring kindergarden teacher on the planet. There is nothing in this world that she wouldn’t do to take care of our family. She is the most beautiful woman i know, and i am so grateful that I am able to call her my mom.

best momma ever

judy plyler
Columbus, GA- Manchester

my momma is not with us anymore , but I still think she was the best momma ever. when our father left us when I was just 8 years old , she went to work not 1 , not 2 but 3 part time jobs to support 3 kids without any child support from our father. when I was 10 she fell at work & damaged her left knee cap so much that she ended up losing that knee cap . technically , you can not walk without a knee cap , but she taught herself to walk without one . then in 1992 she had developed a blood clot in her intestines which caused part of her intestines to die & had to have about 75% of her large intestines to be removed . she had survived that & promised god that if he would let her survive that ordeal that she would marry my step dad , she survived & momma married my step dad in 1994 . she also overcame a lifetime of medical problems over her short lifespan by having 3 strokes , 4 heart attacks , emphysema , diabetes , arthritis , copd , & even surprised us by surviving a blood clot in her lungs—which is rare with all her health problems—-she had a heart by-pass done & that was starting to reclog up on her , but couldnt afford another surgery health-wise , dr said if they knock her out for a surgery that we would not be getting her back . for the last 5 or 6 years of her time on earth with us she was confined to a motorized chair & she still made sure to have a big family dinner every holiday despite her health .
she taught me to sew & make clothes when I was 10 & now at almost 49 , im glad she took the time to teach me to sew , she taught my 2 brothers & me how to swim even if she couldnt swim anymore without that left kneecap . yes she could’ve gave up & went on welfare to support 3 kids alone , but she wasn’t one to give up . she was a strong woman & did everything possible to keep 3 kids out of foster care & did whatever it took to raise us alone with no help .

then finally one sad day she never woke up on the morning of april 16 , 2012 , because god thought her job was done here with us , but she is still looking down & guiding us in so many ways. I can now see some of her personalility in my oldest grand-daughter . the day my husband & I got married (it was an outdoor ceremony) it rained—after the ceremony was over at least lol—and I do believe that it was because she was looking down on us that day & was crying tears of joy on the reception .
I am so very thankful I had such a strong momma and over-came so many obstacles in her life . I just wish she was still around to see y second born daughter graduate from college—my first child to graduate from college—-but I also know she will be there that day also which is day after mothers day & what a great present that is to have

The best woman there is!

Patty Moore
Tuscaloosa, AL

I honestly don’t know what I’d do without this woman. We have been through everything together. We argue A LOT, but no matter what, I know who is gonna be there for me in the end. No matter what kind of trouble I get in, No matter what situation I’m in, I know who is gonna be there for me 150%. I would honestly consider her my best friend. I love you more than you will ever know, even if I don’t express it or tell you all the time, I am gonna be there for you like you’ve been there for me. Shes been sick here lately with malnutrition, & at some point we didn’t think she was gonna live, but we’re still fighting to this day & you seem to be improving. You raised me as a single mother, which I wouldn’t trade for the world. You have been the best MOM and DAD there is. I love you with all my heart. & Happy mothers day!

Selfless Mama

Wendy Rodgers
Trussville, AL

My mama is the most selfless person you will ever meet. She is selfless to a fault. She is the type of person you give a gift to that turns around and asks you if you are sure you can’t use it. She gives and gives and never asks or expects anything in return. She is not hard to please. She spends her days being daycare for my 2yr old daughter and watching the birds surround their beautiful home. She is compassionate, funny, charming and caring. She is the absolute best mother I could have ever hoped to have.

Mother Figure in my life

Mary Ann Williams
Columbus, GA- Uptown

Mary Ann is my mother in law. I met her 7 years ago shortly after meeting her son who I am now married to. Mary Ann is a single mother and raised her amazing children alone and did an outstanding job as one is a Columbus Police Officer and the other the owner and operator of a Childrens Learning Center. She takes every opportunity to support, appreciate and show her pride to her children. She has been a huge part of my life inparticular. We connected instantly and have been best friends since. If a few days go by and I have gotten to hang out with her I miss her. She is full of life and fun. We love adventures and fishing. I dont have enough space to list all the amazing things I have seen this woman do but I will give a few. She helps me cook meals for Ronald McDonald, spends all day fishing and give the fish to people she knows needs them, has ordered food for herself and given it to homeless men, lends money even when she doesnt have much, has fish fries in the neighborhood and lets everyone eat. This woman is always there when you do and dont need her. She is my biggest cheerleader as I am in college full time and I work full time. She makes sure I stay motivated and encourages me to keep pushing. She is my best friend and if anyone deserves this she does. I love this woman with all my heart!

Not only is she a smokin’ hot 70+ year old, she has the biggest heart in the world. I honestly do not know what my family would do without her. She is the first one I call when I am sick, hurting, upset, or when I just need a good laugh. I am the luckiest girl in the world, and I love her to the moon. God most of all. She never ask for thanks for all she took and gave, so I will always say thanks Mamma, I Love you!!
